Practical Training
Like in any other field as they say, "experience is the best teacher"; practical training is highly recommended and encouraged in the University of Cape Town (UCT) especially in the Construction Economics and Management Department.
In my first year of construction studies (2009) I was part of the one week long community build project where we were building RDP house for the community of Mbekweni (Paarl, Western Cape).
For the following years I have been involved in various projects with the company called uMalusi House Construction in the KwaZulu Natal province in the architecture and building.

The practical work I have done has not only helped me in understanding my studies more but working people has grown me as an individual and has taught me team work and equipped me with better understanding of what actually happens in the construction sites.
